Published June 6, 2026

Issue description

We are pleased to present the inaugural issue of Pappadalleq: Journal of Islamic Economics and Welfare (Volume 1, No. 1, June 2026). Published by the Gad El Haq Research & Publication Center in collaboration with IAIN Parepare, this maiden issue features five empirical studies exploring critical dynamics in Islamic financial performance, corporate accountability, and community welfare. This issue addresses contemporary economic challenges through various lenses: the operational efficiency paradox in Sharia microfinance, public insurance performance evaluations on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the impact of leverage on listed Sharia banks, the structural implementation of PSAK No. 109 in zakat management, and the real-world impact of Islamic financial literacy on local MSMEs in Parepare. We hope these scholarly contributions offer valuable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the field of Islamic economics.
